چکیده

The dynamic moduli of white and canary coloured Chokla wool fibres and their alkaline thioglycollate-reduced fibres were determined with a sonic pulse of 5kHz. The dynamic modulus of fibres decreased significantly on reduction. the decrease being more in canary coloured fibres. This modulus explains more satisfactorily the role of disulphide bonds for low strains than the stress-strain characteristics obtained on an Instron at low strains of up to 2'10'

b) Numbers. The total sheep population in the Chokla distribution area was 0.53 m according to the 1972 census and 0.511 m according to the 1977 census, thus showing a slight decline. Of these, adult males and adult females were 0.049 and 0.352 m respectively. Chokla is perhaps the finest carpet-wool breed, although most Chokla wool is now being diverted to the worsted sector because of the dea...

Nanoscale Strain-Hardening of Keratin Fibres

Mammalian appendages such as hair, quill and wool have a unique structure composed of a cuticle, a cortex and a medulla. The cortex, responsible for the mechanical properties of the fibers, is an assemblage of spindle-shaped keratinized cells bound together by a lipid/protein sandwich called the cell membrane complex. Each cell is itself an assembly of macrofibrils around 300 nm in diameter tha...

تاثیر آمونیاک قبل از رنگرزی بر رنگ پذیری و تغییر رنگ پشم رنگرزی شده با رنگزاهای طبیعی ایرانی

Ammonia is a weak base that can be used as an swelling agent on wool fibres before dyeing. In this study the pretreatment of wool with ammonia in different percent solutions (5, 10, 15, 20) is carried out, and its effect on dye-ability of wool by natural dyes such as madder, walnut shell, pomegranate peel, vine leaf, white and red onion skin, is analyzed. Also the effects of temperature, length...

Calcium Silicate Bricks – Ultrasonic Pulse Method: Effects of Natural Frequency of Transducers on Measurement Results

Modulus of elasticity is one of the important parameters of construction materials, which considerably influence their deformation properties and which can also be determined by means of non-destructive test methods like ultrasonic pulse method. However, measurement results of ultrasonic pulse methods are influenced by various factors, one of which is the natural frequency of the transducers. T...

Reducing Pigmented Fibres in White Wool

The presence of dark fibres in white wool results in reduced profits or in cost recovery claims by wool processors and in reduced confidence in wool as an apparel fibre, which ultimately means lower prices for greasy wool. The allowances set by fabric manufacturers for contaminants are extremely small, typically no more than 3 contaminant faults per garment or per running metre of fabric, while...
